Ice Science — Branding Exploration

Brand identity for Ice Science, a premium cocktail ice company based in San Francisco. The brief called for multiple directions — one was developed further into a full identity system.
The direction
The selected direction was built around a single typographic decision: “ICE” set in a light outline weight, “SCIENCE” in heavy bold, the two words sitting side by side. The contrast between the two does the conceptual work — fragile and solid, cold and precise — without needing a symbol or icon to explain it. The wordmark is clean and confident enough to work at any scale, from packaging to large-format applications.
Colour and application
The palette moved away from the obvious cold blues toward electric yellow and dark navy — a combination that reads as premium and distinctive on shelf rather than generic ice branding. The wordmark was taken into brand applications including photography composites, where the oversized logotype sits across atmospheric imagery of raw ice and natural environments, pushing the identity toward a lifestyle register rather than a purely functional one.
